Position Description
The Software Engineer - PC Programmer is responsible for design and code applications following specifications and using various software languages, such as: C#, SQL. Design and develop software on existing equipment and systems such as Laser Guided Vehicle (LGVs) systems, Palletizers, Warehouse Management Software (WMS) etc. Maintain and modify existing applications independently or by collaborating with senior staff members in this field of expertise. Perform custom programming at customer request. Perform integration of software with existing system. Create and develop software simulation and modeling. Customizing existing applications and develop new deployable applications. Diagnose problems and install upgrades on existing equipment and systems used in our customers’ automated material handling systems. Integrate software with existing systems. Ensure optimal performance of equipment onsite. Attend periodic meetings onsite to develop strategies for improving equipment utilization. Exercise diplomacy in resolving conflicting customer performance expectations. Telecommuting is permitted. Up to 50% travel required (domestic and international) to perform implementation on customer site.
Position Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, or related field, and 3 years of work experience as a Software Developer, or related. Additionally, a qualified applicant’s experience must include the following:
- Experience in designing and coding applications following specifications and using various software languages, such as SQL Server, C# and .net framework;
- Experience in designing and developing software for automated factories systems with the scope of integrating Laser Guided Vehicle (LGV) systems, Robot Palletizers, Warehouse Management Software (WMS), automated product picking solutions and Yard Management systems;
- Experience in Visual Basic to perform development and upgrades on older automation solutions generations;
- Experience in customizing existing applications and developing new deployable applications;
- Experience in Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) technology to implement and integrate graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for Laser Guided Vehicle (LGV) systems;
- Experience in PC / PLC communication with RsLinx / OPC server applications for the integration of end-of-line automation with LGV systems.
